Norwest Venture Partners Announces 2015 Investment Professional Promotions

Today we recognize talented individuals on the healthcare, consumer Internet and growth equity investment teams who have contributed significantly to Norwest and have added strategic value to our portfolio companies.

As a part of this recognition, we are pleased to announce the promotions of Casper de Clercq and Ryan Harris to General Partner, and Ran Ding, Jared Hyatt, Conrad Shang and Ed Yip to Vice President.

These promotions reflect our ongoing investment in these outstanding individuals who help us excel in multiple stages and sectors.

General Partner Promotions


Casper de Clercq joined Norwest with extensive operating knowledge and more than 30 years of experience in the medical device and life sciences industries. He is known for his investments in Intersect ENT (which went public last year), Basis (a company in which he participated on the board and it was acquired by Intel), and most recently, Misfit Wearables, which sold to Fossil Group for $260 million just a few weeks ago.

Casper also serves on the board of Omada Health, iRhythm Technologies, Telcare, and Crossover Health. Read more about Casper’s experience here.


Dr. Ryan Harris has more than 20 years of healthcare and growth equity experience. His deep medical knowledge combined with his extensive business experience have been valuable to our firm as we’ve sourced new investments in the healthcare services, healthcare IT, and medical devices arenas.

Ryan led the firm’s investments in Capsugel, iCardiac and Crossover Health.

Ryan’s deep experience and success in large cap buyouts and growth equity, along with his positive momentum and investment discipline at Norwest over the past few years has been an asset to our firm. Read more about Ryan’s experience here.

Vice President Promotions


Ran Ding is a consummate team player on Norwest’s growth equity team where he focuses on wide range of sectors including technology, business services, and consumer. Specifically, he has helped with diligence on Norwest portfolio companies The Retail Equation, Kendra Scott Designs, PICS and The Rainmaker Group. His great attitude and strong work ethic help him develop deep sector knowledge to leverage into CEO connections and growth equity investment opportunities.

Jared Hyatt has been another outstanding contributor to the Consumer Internet team since he joined the firm. He is currently a board observer at Norwest-backed companies Honeybook, Glint, and Modsy.  He also serves as a mentor with the Disney Techstars accelerator program.

Conrad Shang joined Norwest with a strong mix of consulting and venture capital experience. He has been a huge asset to the Consumer Internet team and has worked extremely hard over the years sourcing and managing existing investments at our firm including Casper, Udemy and ZIRX.

Ed Yip has been an excellent contributor to the consumer Internet team over the past several years and he is a true team player. He has worked closely with the team to help manage and cultivate our existing portfolio companies and source new opportunities. In particular, Ed’s due diligence and value add on ModCloth, The Echo Nest (acquired by Spotify), Madison Reed, IFTTT and Threadflip have been extremely valuable.
